First Baptist Church of Perryton, was originally established as First Baptist Ochiltree in 1906. The church later moved north to the new town of Perryton where it still resides today. The founding of First Baptist was by the commitment and work of a missionary Elihu Newton. Elihu Newton was the first pastor and the church has continued to grow with the mission emphasis for over a century.
The church has been actively involved in mission work over the years and have seen a number of individuals move onto the mission field. First Baptist in 2016 commissioned a team to serve in Lesotho Africa. Missions is more to First Baptist than just praying and giving, it is gong and sending.
First Baptist is an integral part of the Perryton community as well. Missions in other parts of the world is first lived out by the mission of sharing and living the gospel of Jesus Christ in the Perryton community.
Our story from its beginning is that of a people coming together to worship and follow the direction of God's leading. It is our commitment to being a Bible-based body of believers reaching and ministering to people from every walk of life, with a heart for accomplishing the Great Commission for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
